Message from President
In 2011, the world's population exceeded 7 billion. We do not know that this momentum will decline, especially in emerging nations, and we anticipate that it will exceed 9 billion by 2050. The activity of human beings with such a large population has a great impact not only on humans but also on the entire planet where various animals and plants live, and global warming due to natural destruction and massive emissions of carbon dioxide, resource depletion, The accompanying climate change is causing a variety of problems, such as the growing number of endangered species. The problem extends to ourselves as well, due to catastrophic disasters caused by climate change, various after-effects and diseases caused by environmental pollution, desertification caused by changes in rainfall patterns, a decrease in water resources, food crises, and expanding economic disparities. Increasingly widespread poverty, including the problem of poverty that continues to occur and the problems it causes, such as malnutrition, low education, and illness. In corporate activities as well, compliance issues and lack of ethics have led to various types of corruption and corporate bankruptcy due to improper accounting, and BP cases that have caused memories and new “catastrophic accidents to surpass natural disasters”. Even within companies, especially in Japan, efforts to ensure diversity (diversity) such as race and gender are lagging. Many of the problems caused by these corporate activities are accelerating with population growth, and whether humankind will be able to enter a sustainable and bright global society or not, our irreplaceable descendants. It is approaching a turning point, whether it will be an earth that can not live. Understanding this situation, Meikodo must consider its own social and environmental initiatives for the next generation of children and all living things on the planet.
All companies always have at least economic and legal responsibilities. A company that cannot generate profits cannot pay employees or survive a business, and no company can not comply with local laws and regulations. By fulfilling these minimum responsibilities, companies can continue to operate, but this alone cannot solve the various problems that are currently occurring on the planet. In order to solve this, as a company, we must go beyond legal compliance and fulfill our ethical responsibilities to create a sustainable planet. not. In addition, Meikodo further promotes the idea, and has a spontaneous attitude of actively working on solving problems on its own, instead of a passive attitude of fulfilling its responsibilities. We aim to further improve our "creating value by ourselves" "idea of fulfilling legal and ethical responsibilities".

This "creation of common value" implies mutual development with the company's society and environment. Charities such as donations and donations are still taking place around the world, and of course they are of great value, but we don't think it's the best. If a company made a charitable contribution to something that had nothing to do with its core business (core) or interests, poor children who received the donation could, of course, have a meal of the day. However, companies simply decrease their holdings for the next investment and decrease their growth rate, and the recipients cannot become “people who can earn money themselves and continue eating rice”. This doesn't mean that you don't want to spend your money on donations, but rather that you can't grow sustainably. We will work to achieve “both parties benefit” by conducting activities instead of such unsustainable CSR. If a company supports poor children, it should be a sustained goal to be competitive in the future, earn money on their own and escape poverty. Also, companies should be able to grow with some kind of return through their activities. If a company can make a profit through these activities, it will be possible to carry out larger CSR activities thereafter, and as a result, help more children. Thus, true CSR activities must be a “sustainable growth cycle” in which all related parties gain “common interests”. In order to express our thoughts and determination, we have set up the theme of CSR as “Shared Value Creation for Future”.
