Sharp Point Needle

Sharp Point Needle/Pin

Sharp-point pins are manufactured by grinding and sharpening the ends of metal wire.
This tip-forming (taper grinding) process is the most critical step in needle production.
At Meikodo, we produce sharp-point pins in a wide range of wire diameters and lengths.

Materials: Iron, steel, stainless steel, brass, tungsten, beryllium copper, phosphor bronze, and more
Processable range: Ø0.05–Ø2.0
Overall length varies depending on wire diameter and material—please contact us for details.

There are four primary tip geometries for sharp-point pins.
Starting from the top left: straight, ogive (bullet-shaped), chamfered, and rounded end face (R-end).
We provide the optimal geometry to suit each application.

Processing Polishing

Immediately after taper grinding, the surface of a sharp-point pin is relatively rough, so we perform polishing as needed for the application.
Introducing a polishing step smooths the surface and gives it a glossy finish.
